John L. Bowen, 70, of 92 Old Fentonville Road, died Wednesday (Dec. 9, 2015) at the home of his daughter. He was born Nov. 19, 1945, in Buffalo, the son of Melvin and Lois Reynolds Bowen. John had been employed as a corrections officer for Chautauqua County and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was an active member of the First Church of The Nazarene in Warren, Pa. He had a powerful singing voice and enjoyed singing in the church. John is survived by his wife of 18 years, Sandra Cain Bowen; four daughters: Kimberly (Peter) Shovak of Sandy Hook, Conn., Terri (Chris) Higgins of Mansfield, Ohio, Jennifer (Kirk) Edwards of Frewsburg, and Elaine (John) Koss of Rockmart, Ga.; a son: Sam (Renee) Posey of Randolph; 11 grandchildren; a brother: Walter; and six sisters: Evelyn, Gay Ann, Loretta, Lois, Eloise, and Sharon. He was predeceased by his parents, and several brothers and sisters. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. The Rev. J. Maier, pastor of the First Church of The Nazarene will officiate. Burial will be in Fentonville Cemetery, Frewsburg. The family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m., Sunday, in the funeral home.
