Therese Garfield Meyer, 87, of Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility formerly of Shirley Lane in Jamestown, died, Monday, April 25, 2016, at Heritage Green. She was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Burdett and Emma Malette Garfield.
Therese was a ninth generation descendant of our 20th president, James A. Garfield. She was a member of the former Widler Methodist Church in Frewsburg. In earlier years she enjoyed
cooking, canning, knitting and ice skating. Her family owned and operated the former Garfield Theater in Frewsburg for many years.
Therese is survived by her six children: Michael (Lindy) Meyer of Lebanon Junction, Ky., Paula (Dr. Gary Kipp) Meyer and Patricia (Michael) Hall of Destin, Fla., Priscilla (Ron) Brands of Busti, Wayne Jr. (Lisa) Meyer of Terre Haute, Ind., and Phyllis (Gary) Pezikian of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Wayne R. Meyer Sr.; and a grandson, Patrick McNallie.
No visitation will be observed. A private graveside service was held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.
